For more than 10 years, Village Home’s theater productions have brought to life an exciting world of storytelling, creativity, and teamwork. Our learners, supported by dedicated staff and volunteers, have dazzled audiences with their talents on stage and behind the scenes. Each year, they bring a unique blend of artistry and joy to our community, showcasing both musicals and plays that allow every participant to find their voice and express their creativity.
This season, we’re thrilled to present three amazing productions:
Learners have the chance to engage at every level—from acting and singing to technical work like lighting and sound. They can also participate in set design and prop creation, bringing every part of the production to life. Our theater program offers a range of ways to get involved:
Ages 10+ for Jr. shows; Ages 13+ for teen shows
Cultivating a world of creativity, Village Home Theater puts on three productions a year. Learners are invited to navigate the world of theater each step of the way, engaging in auditions, rehearsals, and performances. Besides the fun of being in the spotlight, students can increase their confidence, improve memorization aptitude, improve musical literacy, practice dance moves, gain management skills, make new friends, and more. Through singing, dancing, and acting, the cast brings memorable stories to life on stage that delight their friends, families, and the local community. Upcoming audition opportunities and information on our current season are posted above.
Ages 13+
Theater is for everyone! Many learners find a rich community through being backstage during our performances. Creating lighting designs, assisting with costumes, operating spotlights, and moving props on and off stage are just some of the ways that our learners help make our shows happen. Being a part of the production crew for a show is a great way to make new friends, see how a show operates on a technical level, learn hands-on skills, and maybe even prep for a future career behind the curtain.
Ages 14+
Great performers don’t wait to be discovered. They create opportunities to share their gifts.
Whether your passion is acting, singing, directing, choreography, technical theater, writing, or design, this studio is designed to help you grow as both an artist and a creative leader. Through workshops, mentorship, real-world experiences, and portfolio-building projects, you’ll strengthen your craft while exploring educational and career pathways in the performing arts.
By the end of the year, you’ll have a portfolio that reflects your unique strengths and a clearer vision for where your next act might lead.
If you’re ready to challenge yourself, share your gifts, and discover what’s possible when preparation meets opportunity, this is your studio.
Ages/classes vary per term
Our choices classes are great for those who want to learn more about the world of theater and its many creative avenues. For one hour a week, learners will meet to gain more knowledge in specific skill sets. Whether you have a little one who is ready to try tap dancing on stage in a tutu or a learner who loves to design and create stunning props, we have a variety of theater-related classes offered each term.
Ages 11+
The Village Home Thespians club is open to anyone who is interested in and dedicated to the theatrical arts on stage, backstage, and out in the front of the house. Anyone who wants to join can come be part of this unique and exciting experience. We will connect, play games, learn acting techniques, and discuss ways for coming together to serve our community through the lens of the theatrical arts. In addition to our regularly scheduled meetings, by participating in the Village Home Thespians Club, you will have the opportunity to earn hours toward becoming a member of our Thespian Troupe.
Special Note: Learners are welcome to sign up for this club and take it for fun. HOWEVER, please note that in order to become an official member of the International Thespian Society, there are other steps learners must take (and we can help. you with that). Learners must have at least 100 hours of performing as a prerequisite (according to EdTA standards). If a learner has 100 hours of performing theater DONE, please reach out to ireland.mcneill@villagehome.org to move forward with the official induction process.
It’s given me more confidence.
