Home-schooler makes a beeline to national spelling competition

Raleigh Hills home-schooler Connor Aberle correctly spelled olivaceous and erythromycin to take the top prize during Saturday’s Portland Tribune/Comcast Regional Spelling Bee. Aberle was one of 42 students from schools (and home schools) in Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington counties who competed in the sixth-annual spelling bee at the Hollywood Theatre. The bee was open to students in third to eighth grade who compete in their schools for a chance to show their stuff at the regional event.
