We appreciate your child is more than a test score, but we also appreciate that tests are required by law, and they can provide feedback about how your learner is doing. As a service to the homeschool community, Village Home is proud to offer the Terra Nova Test (formerly California Achievement Test CAT) for grades 3-12, which is one of the tests approved by the state of Oregon for homeschoolers. (According to Oregon State Law, homeschoolers are required to test in grades 3, 5, 8 and 10.)
We offer a friendly, low-stress test environment that complies with the testing requirements. We offer paper-and pencil tests that are hand scored, so need to worry about a bubble that is not completely filled in. Students can bring water and a snack, and will have a break during testing.
The standard test report includes the raw score, national percentile and grade equivalent for each section of the test. For an additional $10 per test, a Diagnostic Profile breaks down responses by specific learning. Be sure to order your diagnostic profile if you want details about your child’s test performance. We host morning and afternoon sessions to align with your learner’s best on-task time. Third-grade tests are conducted only in the morning.
Check-in time is 8:30 am for morning sessions, and 12:30 for afternoon sessions. Tests begin 30 minutes after check-in begins (9am for morning sessions, and 1:00 for afternoon sessions). Please note, late arrivals cannot be accommodated. Actual testing times vary. We estimate the ending time, but be prepared to wait if the group took extra breaks.
Testing cost is $50 (VH members pay $45). Registration opens online in the winter, and group testing sessions occur in June.
Private Testing Service
Private testing sessions are available for an additional charge for learners who need accommodations. Learner accommodations cannot be made in group testing sessions. Private testing fee is $85 (VH members pay $80).
