We are a homeschooling group of 7-12 year olds (Amelia, Austin, Taytlyn, Tesca, Timothy, Tylise) who go to Village Home Education Resource Center. We build robots and program them for competitions held in December by FIRST Lego League (FLL) and ORTOP. We have been a team since January 2006. To get an idea of the competition, click here.

Every year, the competition has a different theme. This year's theme is nanotechnology. During the competition there are four judging categories: project presentation, technical judging, robotic challenge, and teamwork.

The project presentation is defined by FLL. The project requires us to research nanotechnolgy and come up with a solution that solves a problem. We decided to make a zero emissions car enhanced by nanotechnology, called the "Glacier." If we all drive cars that are recharged by solar energy, CO2 auto emissions will decrease.

Because of CO2 auto emissions, global warming is rising, animals are losing their habitat, smog and air pollution is rising, and asthma is more common. Ever since 2003, Greenland has been losing a giga-ton of ice every year.

Zero emissions cars are possible, and introducing a car enhanced by nanotechnology can help decrease global warming. Global warming is worst in areas of high population of people who drive cars daily. Such areas include: Sacramento, New York, Boston, and Mexico City. Our goal is to provide an affordable electric car enhanced by nanotechnology, with a larger range than today's electric vehicles. This is why we created the Glacier- Good for you, Good for the country, Good for the Earth
