For our team's project, we were asked to pick a building in our comunity and evaluate that building's energy use. We chose the Beaverton Library, because it is close to our location, and it is used a lot by the public. The Beaverton Library was built in September 2000. We hope to make the Beaverton Library more efficient by ... Once we had chosen the building, we were to contact the manager of our building, discusss the project, and ask for their help to perform an energy audit. In this audit we were to look at the types of energy used, how they are used, and the amount used. Then we had to contact experts in the field to examine the process by which the different types of energy are made, and the important parts of producing it.
We then talked to to experts to discuss and propose possible solutions to reduce consumption, or even move toward alternative energy use. Once we knew the energy needs of our chosen building, we looked at areas of improvement to find solutions.
Such as, how efficient is it? How could we make it better? And what about the building's sources of energy? We then had to research posible alternative energy solutions, and suggest short-term and long-term solutions, that can be made to move toward renewable energy or reduced consumption. Then we share our ideas with the community.
