Lights Camera Auction: Our Annual Fundraiser

One of the biggest social events on the Village Home calendar is also our biggest fundraiser, Lights Camera Auction, where we combine the excitement of an auction with the casual atmosphere of a dinner party. We are always looking for big ticket items for annual auction. Unused timeshare days are very welcome. Local merchants can promote their businesses with certificates for goods or services. What is “Scrip”?

Scrip is gift cards sold at face value through Village Home. Almost 100 local stores and restaurants offer gift cards through the scrip program, and the merchants donate to Village every time you buy their gift cards. Click here for the order form/list of participating merchants.

Where do I buy scrip gift cards?

We will have gift cards for the most popular merchants from the list at Village Home. You can buy them in the office or from the scrip table that will be set up during breaks between some of the classes.

How can I pay for scrip?

Checks, cash, and now, credit cards! Credit cards take some of the profits, but so many of you said that accepting credit cards would encourage you to use scrip that we have found a way for that to work.

What if the gift cards I want aren’t being carried at Village Home?

Send an email to scrip@villagehome.org. We’ll have it for you as soon as possible, and if it’s something you will use regularly, we will keep it in stock.

What are the benefits of scrip over other fundraising programs?

With the scrip program, Village earns from 2% to a whopping 43% of the value of the cards you buy without you paying a penny extra or buying things you ordinarily wouldn't. With the scrip program, the contribution comes from the merchants. You just do your normal buying using gift cards purchased through Village Home.

How can I help Village the most using scrip?

Regularly buying your groceries and household items with scrip gift cards is one of the easiest, highest impact ways to make the program work for Village. While other types of merchants and service providers offer great percentages and bring nice returns, it's the regular purchase of gift cards, week after week or month after month, that really adds up.

What is “eScrip”?

Join the original and largest "electronic scrip" fundraising program! Earn $$$ for Village Home by using ESCRIP when you shop. Hundreds of Pacific Northwest Companies participate in the program and it can be as simple as registering your grocery loyalty cards. For example, Safeway shoppers can register online with their Safeway card number, and the company will donate money to Village Home every time you shop.

How do I Enroll?

To enroll, go online to www.escrip.com. Click "sign in," type "Village Home" as the group name, and select "Village Home Education Resource Center" from the list. Your name and address are required to register, but your phone number and email address are not required. If you want, you have the option of also registering one or more credit card numbers to support Village Home whenever you use that card.
