DRA209E Intro to Acting

Description: The goal of this class is to gain a basic understanding of the principles of acting. Through the use of acting exercises and improvistion, students will learn the basics of interpreting a play and creating interesting characters, and will practice their skills in short 2-3 person scenes from selected plays.
Important Notes: Please wear comfortable non-restrictive clothing. Students will be given a short scene to memorize.

About the Instructor: RaChelle Schmidt, R

Rachelle is a single mom who is homeschooling her son. She earned a BS in Theater Arts from Portland State University, and has 20 years experience as a professional actress. She has been teaching acting to all ages for 3 years and is currently working as the Academy Director of the Portland office of John Robert Powers Acting and Modeling academy. She is passionate about sharing acting with young people mostly because it is fun, but beyond that, she knows first-hand how much acting can enrich your life.
