ART405 Fashion Design and Re-Design

Description: In this class students will learn how to make their own patterns for clothing, take something old and make it new, and even sew from scratch! Learners will understand how to use their sewing machine, measure, calculate seam allowances, choosing fabrics, and basic pattern making. We'll cover sewing basics and no-sew projects, redesigning old or outgrown clothing and T-shirt reconstruction. Bring your ideas!
Important Notes: Bring a sewing machine from home, if you have one. Please note, there is no place on campus to store your machine.

About the Instructor: Andrea Kendall

Andrea has been dancing for 20 years, and teaching/coaching for the last nine. Her most recent team has won first place at their State Championship for the last four years. Andrea has previously taught classes from beginning to advanced levels, with students ranging from four to seventeen years of age. Her genres include jazz, hip hop, contemporary, and ballet.

Andrea has a B.A in Psychology that she earned from Portland State University in 2005.
