Description: This course is designed to help young artists learn to see and record their observations on the page. In the first term, we will study line, form, perspective and other drawing basics using pencil, pen, charcoal and conte crayon. This course is an invaluable tool for learning how to translate ideas and feelings into reality. The second term will serve as an introduction to portrait painting and drawing. We will paint pet portraits, friends, family members and self portraits, learning how to see the subject with love and translate that energy to the portrait. The third term we will focus on the wide brush of multimedia art. Discovering texture, color and story telling in this limitless expression.
Important Notes: Wear clothes that can get dirty or bring a smock!

About the Instructor: Jane Nash

As a practicing artist with her own successful business, Jane feels that
she has experience and confidence to inspire young artists. She has a BFA in visual art, two years of graduate studio courses in painting and she continues to take art courses each year. She also loves to teach and has taught painting and drawing to many people of all ages. She is open and curious about other people and her most important goal is to make each student excited and intrigued by his or her own growth.
