ART215 Emerging Artists Painting

Type of Offering: Class
Campus: Beaverton
Description: In this class we will be learning about artists from around the world who were pioneers in creative expression, those who broke the rules and formed new styles of art, even those whose passion for their craft kept them going. We will learn about artists whose own style was different from everyone else of their time, and talk about what it must have felt like for them, and what we think about their lives and contribution.

Looking at art is a natural segway into discussing elements of design such as composition and color, as well as materials, and art history. As we look at these artists and their art, it will be a springboard for our personal projects. We will be using materials such as acrylic on canvas, gessoed board, paper, watercolors (artists quality, from the tubes) pastels, and oil paints (without using turpentine). I will teach elements of technique with the different media and we will learn how to stretch our own canvas too!

Come and paint with me!
Important Notes: Wear paint clothes that you don't mind getting permanently messy.
